Buy your biostimulant now
«So strong and so beautiful it seems
my plant, when it takes the stimulant,
that every tongue must, trembling, change,
and the eyes do not dare to look.»
Inconveniencing Dante isn’t something you do every day, but today it’s worth it.
We are about to venture onto a road that will tear your beloved plants away from the dark forest and transport them into a dazzling world of light. Okay, maybe we’re exaggerating a little now, but seriously, the topic we’re going to discuss could be your faithful ally for the protection of plants.
We are talking about biostimulants, products designed to regenerate plants.
In what sense? Well, let’s find out now!
Biostimulants
We are now more than accustomed to hearing about fertilizers and manures, so much so biostimulants sometimes they find themselves living a bit in the shaded part of the stage, and yet they are remarkable allies for every green lover! Yet this term, coined by Zhang and Schmidt, has been circulating since 1997 Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University to indicate “substances which, when applied in small quantities, promoted the growth of plants”.
The Ebic (European Biostimulants Industry Council) says that “biostimulants contain substances or microorganisms whose function, when applied to the plant or rhizosphere, is to stimulate natural processes to increase or improve nutrient absorption, tolerance to abiotic stress and crop quality”.
In short, biostimulants do not take the place of the very famous ones mentioned above, but work alongside them by enhancing the natural processes that help the plant to be the best version of itself, they are also incredibly useful in conditions of stress, promoting the return to a balanced and well-being condition of the plant that has just experienced a transplant, a period of drought, or any element that may have experienced it.
The positive aspects of biostimulants are great, but naturally not all products are the same and a specific situation requires an equally specific solution, which is why we are now going to take a look at our favorite products, guiding you to understand which one is right for you.
Algatron, Sinergon and Bio gold by Cifo
The phytostimulants that we not only recommend you take into consideration but that we use ourselves on a daily basis in the Georgiche nurseries are; Algatron, Sinergon and Bio gold from Cifo. Before delving into the specifications of each one, for complete transparency, we would like to say that this article (as well as the related video) are not the result of a collaboration with Cifo, but of our precise choice which identified their products as the best solution for us. Cifo is an Italian company that we have relied on for years and that we, like many other professionals, have had the opportunity to appreciate in the management of greenery.
Algatron
Algatron is a natural biostimulant, completely organic, permitted in organic farming, obtained from Macrocystis Integrifolia algae. The exclusive production process allows all the natural biologically active substances (e.g. carbohydrates, vitamins, polyphenols, etc.) contained in the algae to be kept intact.
In which situations to use it
- Germination and root development;
- Intensification of natural defenses from environmental stress of a thermal nature (temperature excursions caused by prolonged situations of frost or drought) and water stress (lack of water in the substrate);
Therefore Algatron proves essential to reduce the damage caused by climatic/environmental stress, quickly fortifying and reinvigorating the plant.
When to use it
Algatron can be used on any plant, in the early vegetative stages (post-sowing/transplanting, spring recovery). In anticipation of temperature variations, prolonged periods of frost or drought, or in anticipation of water stress. It can also be used to improve the shelf life of fruit and vegetables.
Application
Algatron has the advantage of combining not only soil application but also foliar application, distinguishing itself from many other products.
- Application to the soil: dilute one measuring cap (18-20ml) every 2 liters of water and water the soil directly. Repeat the treatments 10-12 days later.
- Foliar application: dilute half a measuring cap (9ml) for every 2 liters of water and spray on the leaves and fruits. Repeat the treatments 10-12 days later.
Be careful, do not spray directly on the light-colored flowers!
Composition
Algatron is a specific action product.
Nitrogenous fluid extract based on Macrocystis Integrifolia algae
Organic Nitrogen (N) 0.2%
Organic carbon (C) of biological origin 0.7%
pH (10% w/v in water) 4.5
Synergon more
Sinergon Plus is a specialty based on amino acids and microelements, essential for the correct development of plants.
The effective formula allows you to easily overcome moments of stress by reactivating the functionality of debilitated plants. The solution is readily assimilable by the plant, in association with fertilizers it facilitates the absorption of nutritional elements. While combined with plant defense products, it improves their effectiveness and action by supporting plants weakened by pathogen attack.
The plants to which this product is administered are more active, vital, with luxuriant growth and greater productivity of flowers, fruits and leaves.
In what situations and when to use it
- It is recommended throughout the entire life cycle, in the presence of debilitated plants, to improve their growth and development;
- Whenever the plants need nourishment (in this case it must be associated with the use of fertilizers);
Application
- Green ornamental and flowering plants: half a measuring cap (9-10ml) in 10 liters of water. Carry out interventions from vegetative growth onwards, every 10-15 days.
- Ornamental and fruit trees: half a measuring cup cap (9-10ml) in 10 liters of water. Carry out interventions from vegetative growth onwards, every 10-15 days.
- Turf: half a measuring cap (9-10ml) in 8-10 liters of water. Water at vegetative growth, after each mowing.
- Vegetables and herbs: half a measuring cup cap (9-10ml) in 10 liters of water. Water the newly transplanted seedlings and then every 10-12 days.

BioOro
Bio Oro is completely organic, based on precious raw materials, indicated to promote the development of plants. The amino acids contained, in association with specific organic components, give Bio Oro a stimulating activity in the formation of new tissues (shoots, flowers, fruits). The use of the formula improves the functions of the plants after the first application, triggering their growth. It promotes flowering, promotes fruit formation, improves the growth and maturation of vegetables, and facilitates the thickening of lawn grass.
In what situations and when to use it
- It is used all year round;
- It is suitable for all houseplants, on the balcony, on the terrace, in the garden, in the vegetable garden and for the lawn.
Application
- Dilute the contents of a measuring cap (18-20ml) in 3 liters of water and distribute to the soil.
- For lawns and plants in open ground, administer 5 liters of solution per square metre.
- In the spring – summer period, repeat the administration every week. In the winter period do administrations every 15-20 days.
